The 501 Experience
The Belize Zoo isn’t a zoo in the usual sense: it’s a conservation sanctuary set in 29 acres of natural savanna, home only to animals native to Belize, most of them rescued or rehabilitated. Walkways wind through natural habitat where jaguars nap in the shade and toucans flash between the trees.
You’ll meet Belize’s national animal (the tapir), hear howler monkeys before you see them, and leave understanding why travelers call this “the best little zoo in the world.” It’s a favorite for families, and for anyone who wants Belize’s wildlife without leaving a boardwalk.
The Belize Zoo is one of the country’s most beloved attractions: a natural-habitat sanctuary for jaguars, pumas, tapirs, scarlet macaws, and dozens of native species. Paired with door-to-door transport from San Pedro, it’s the easiest wildlife day in Belize.

Trade jungle cats for beach birds. The resident pelicans do their own show at the bar every evening.
Mainland days run subject to weather and road conditions. Your guides will always pick the best day to go, and 501 handles every leg of the trip from your hotel door and back. Hotel guests get first priority on scheduling.
